Why Offer a Contract?
In 1994, the Republican Party asked us for their votes in exchange for a promise to pass much needed reforms and bring conservative-minded bills to the House Floor. This became known as The Contract with America. We faithfully elected the 104th Congress and a new Republican majority was successful in enacting a number of major reforms.
We now find ourselves at a point in history where strong leadership is needed to stand firm against a leftist agenda that would radically alter our Republic and many of the principles, values, and institutions we hold dear. Many are questioning whether the current Republican Party has that leadership.
We, therefore, offer now our own contract, The Contract with Republicans, to make clear to our representatives what we expect of them. This is the time for principled conservative leadership. Those of us who sign this contract promise our votes and support to any candidate who embraces the principles set forth in this contract.
The contract is offered first to Republicans, the party of Lincoln and Reagan, with hopes of restoring The People’s trust in the party. Let it be clear, however, that we will support any candidate who abides by these principles and oppose those who do not.
We ask that all concerned citizens and would-be representatives:
- Read The Contract with Republicans.
- Consider carefully whether you agree to abide by the stated terms.
- Sign the contract to accept the terms.
- Honor your commitment.
Thank you.
